BALI, Indonesia, August 11 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka produced an impressive international shooting performance by winning six medals, including two golds, at the Bali Open IPSC Handgun and PCC Championship 2026 in Bali, Indonesia, with Rael Liyanage and Janaka Ritigahapola leading the country’s medal charge against a strong overseas field.
Sri Lanka finished the championship with two gold, one silver and three bronze medals, while also completing a clean sweep of the podium in the PCC Optics Junior category.
Rael Liyanage led the junior success by winning the PCC Optics Junior gold medal, while Kael Liyanage secured silver and Daniel Kao took bronze.
The one-two-three finish was one of the highlights of Sri Lanka’s campaign and showed the strength of the country’s emerging junior shooters.
Kao made his presence felt in the handgun competition as well, winning another bronze medal in the Open Junior category. His two medals across PCC and handgun made him one of Sri Lanka’s most successful performers at the championship.
Experienced shooter Janaka Ritigahapola added Sri Lanka’s second gold medal with victory in the Handgun Open Super Senior category.
ABRA De Silva completed the country’s six-medal haul by taking bronze in the Handgun Classic Senior category.
The results were significant for Sri Lankan practical shooting as the medals came across junior, senior and super senior categories and in both PCC and handgun competition.
Sri Lanka also faced a strong international field featuring shooters from Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and the Philippines.
The junior podium sweep was particularly encouraging for Sri Lanka. Having three shooters occupy the top three positions in an international event.
The success of Ritigahapola and De Silva in the older categories also showed that Sri Lanka has competitive strength across different age groups.
The six-medal haul has provided an important boost, with Sri Lanka showing that it has both experienced medal contenders and a promising group of junior shooters capable of making an impact on the international IPSC stage.
