Chrishael Robin leads Sri Lanka's youth water polo brigade to BIMSTEC

Colombo, Jan 28, 5.45PM – Sri Lanka’s junior girls water polo team is getting ready to play in the BIMSTEC Youth Aquatic Meet in New Delhi, India. The tournament will take place from February 5 to 10. The team has 17 talented players, led by Chrishael Robin from Ladies’ College. Robin is not only the team captain but also the vice-captain of the Sri Lanka Senior National Team.

What’s interesting is that Sri Lanka is sending an Under-17 team to a tournament meant for Under-18 players. They’re doing this because they’re focusing on another big tournament, the 11th Asian Age Group Aquatic Championship in New Clark City, Philippines. That one is scheduled from February 26 to March 9.

Coach Zaffar Zainudeen shared the team’s goals, saying, “This will be a qualifying event for the Junior World Championship from the Asian region. We aim to secure a victory at the BIMSTEC Meet, setting us on the right path for the upcoming challenges.” The team is determined to do well in both tournaments and represent Sri Lanka proudly.
