COLOMBO, August 21 (ePRESS) – Annaya Norbert and Ashlin de Silva captured the girls’ and boys’ Under-16 singles titles respectively, while Zacharia Akbar and Thiyansa de Silva won the Under-12 crowns at the YETI-powered Sri Lanka Tennis Nationals 2026 at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts in Colombo.
Norbert of Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya, produced a confident performance to beat Navya Banagala in straight sets in the girls’ Under-16 final.
Norbert took a closely fought opening set 6-4 before maintaining control in the second to win 6-3 and seal the championship.
In the boys’ Under-16 final, Ashlin de Silva of St. Peter’s College was in dominant form as he swept past Mayooran Kubheran 6-1, 6-2.
De Silva controlled the match from the start, dropping only three games on his way to a comfortable straight-sets victory.
Zacharia Akbar of S. Thomas’ College claimed the boys’ Under-12 title after overcoming Kashya Seneviratne 6-3, 6-4.
Akbar stayed steady in both sets and held off Seneviratne’s challenge in the second to complete the victory.
The girls’ Under-12 final produced the toughest battle of the day, with Thiyansa de Silva of Stafford International School needing three sets to defeat Thishya Banagala.
De Silva won the opening set 6-3 before Banagala fought back to take the second 6-4 and force a deciding set.
The final set went down to the wire, but De Silva held her nerve at the crucial stage to win 7-5 and secure the Under-12 title with a hard-fought 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 victory.
