COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, August 2, 2025 (ePRESS) – Reshan Algama, Sri Lanka’s top junior golfer and second-best amateur player, has risen to the 592nd spot in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).

The 16-year-old left-hander continues to impress in both local and international competitions this year as the best-performing golfer in the country for the season.

With six wins and 21 top-10 finishes across 31 international tournaments, Algama has shown excellent consistency. His recent achievements include winning the Sri Lanka Golf July Ranking Tournament and being the runner-up in June. He also placed fourth at the Nepal Amateur Golf Championship and seventh at the Ciputra Junior Amateur Championship in Indonesia.

Looking ahead, Algama will compete in several key tournaments, including the Sri Lanka Junior and Amateur Match Play, the Thai Junior Open, and the Clutch Pro Tour Finals in the UAE this October. He will also participate in the Asian Youth Games and the Singha Thai Junior Championship in Thailand later this year.

MERC-STOP’s sponsorship has played a vital role in Algama’s rise, supporting him as he becomes Sri Lanka’s top junior golfer and is set to become the top amateur in the coming days.
