Colombo, September 24, 2025 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka kept their composure under pressure to defend the prestigious Zia Ul Haq Trophy on the second day of the 134th Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship, organised by Sri Lanka Golf and powered by CEAT Europe Range, at the historic Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).
The Sri Lanka team of Chanaka Perera and Sachin De Silva combined skill, control, and tactical discipline to overcome Pakistan in this annual encounter. Their steady all-round performance ensured that the Zia Ul Haq Trophy remained in Colombo for another year, marking a proud moment for Sri Lankan golf.
The championship now moves into the Match Play stage, with 32 men qualifying after two rounds of stroke play. Among the leading contenders are:

Ladies’ Championship: Daluwatte Leads After Two Rounds
In the Sri Lanka Ladies’ Amateur Open Championship, eight players advanced to the Match Play after the stroke play rounds. National champion Kaya Daluwatte stamped her authority with an impressive aggregate of 142 (77 + 65), finishing at 2-under par.
She holds a commanding lead over Asara Sawhney (156) and Anouk Chitty (163), while Keya Abhayaratne (183), Jade Jiggens (185), Dhinuka Boralessa (187), Sadamali Sumanaratne (190) and Tiru Jesudasan (191) also qualified.
Further down the leaderboard were Elsie Pathmanathan (192), Viv Fowler-Watt (203), Aaraadhi Samaratatne (203) and Eliane Sterchi (210), who missed the cut.
