Jessie Seneviratne surges ahead to U20 National Age Group swimming title

COLOMBO, May 5 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s national swimmer Jessie Seneviratne of Lyceum International School, Gampaha produced a strong all-round performance to emerge as the Under-20 champion at the 50th National Age Group Swimming Championship held at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex in Colombo recently.

Jessie stamped her class with a blend of speed, consistency and versatility, confirming her status as one of the most promising swimmers in her age group.

Her finest moments came in the butterfly events, where she showed her technical strength by clocking an impressive 1:05.85 in the 100m butterfly and 29.72 seconds in the 50m butterfly. She also delivered strongly in freestyle, finishing the 100m freestyle in 1:01.97 and the 50m freestyle in 28.25 seconds.

Adding to her all-round display, Jessie recorded a solid 32.15 seconds in the 50m backstroke, underlining her ability to compete across multiple disciplines at a high level.

Representing Lyceum International School, Gampaha, Jessie’s performance stood out among the country’s top young swimmers, as she maintained a high standard across all her events.

Her success has been guided by coach Kaushal Manawadu, whose structured training methods have helped refine her technique and build endurance, paving the way for her continued rise in Sri Lanka’s swimming arena.
