COLOMBO, May 8 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s fast-growing fintech sector received another boost after WEBXPAY Ltd appointed veteran corporate leader Nemantha Nilhan Abeysinghe as an Independent Non-Executive Director to its Board, as the company pushes beyond traditional digital payment services into a wider financial technology ecosystem.
Abeysinghe brings more than 30 years of experience in corporate leadership, finance, strategy and business development, having served in senior positions in both local and international organisations. His appointment is expected to strengthen WEBXPAY’s drive towards integrated and technology-driven financial solutions for Sri Lanka’s corporate sector.
WEBXPAY Executive Chairman Thilak Piyadigama welcomed the appointment, saying Abeysinghe’s strategic expertise and strong corporate network would play a key role in the company’s next phase of expansion.
“We are pleased to welcome Nemantha Abeysinghe to the Board. His depth of experience, strong corporate network, and strategic insight will add significant value as we continue to scale WEBXPAY beyond traditional payment solutions into a broader financial ecosystem,” Piyadigama said.
Abeysinghe joins a board that includes Executive Chairman Thilak Piyadigama, Aroosi Thasim, Nayana Darshaka Serasinghe, Tamir Illyas, Sarah Illyas, Fazal Mohamed and Anuradha Gamage.
The appointment comes at a crucial time for WEBXPAY as the company expands beyond its Internet Payment Gateway (IPG) and Point-of-Sale (POS) services to offer broader fintech and digital financial solutions.
The company said its future plans will focus heavily on innovation, governance and strategic partnerships as it aims to position itself among Sri Lanka’s leading fintech players driving the country’s digital financial transformation.
