COLOMBO, June 3 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s top-ranked junior player Dinara de Silva and fellow Sri Lankan Yuhansa Peiris powered their way into the girls’ quarter-finals of the SSC ITF Junior J30 Circuit Week Two Tennis Tournament with impressive second-round victories at the SSC Tennis Courts in Maitland Place, Colombo.
The highly-rated Dinara of St Bridget’s Convent, completely outclassed India’s Bawyasri ASR, conceding no games in a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win in the girls’ second round. The Sri Lankan ace displayed excellent control and consistency throughout the match, underlining her status as one of the tournament favourites.
Another Sri Lankan player, Yuhansa Peiris of Bishop’s College, also enjoyed a successful day on court as she defeated India’s Ilaiyanila Kannan in straight sets. Yuhansa produced a confident display to secure a 6-3, 6-0 victory and book her place in the next round.
