Colombo, Feb 20, 7PM – Lebanon won against Bhutan in a Group ‘E’ match, grabbing a fantastic 3-0 victory in an exciting tennis game of the Billie Jean King Cup took place at the tennis courts of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association in Colombo.
The Lebanese girls’ team displayed a dominant performance, with Chkayban Kaya defeating Puendharica Lhasel in the 1st singles match with scores of 6-1, 6-1, and Marianne Berberian securing a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Yangkey Tenzin Dorji in the 2nd singles match. In the doubles match, Carmen Maria Azar and Chkayban Kaya sealed the win with a score of 6-1, 6-2 against Puendharica Lhasel and Yangkey Tenzin.
Meanwhile, the Davis Cup Juniors, witnessed several intense matches. Notable results include Philippines defeating Yemen 3-0 in Group A, Syria winning 2-1 against Nepal in Group B, Turkmenistan beating Northern Mariana Island 2-1 in Group C, Myanmar securing a victory against Maldives in Group D, Iraq dominating Mongolia with a 3-0 win in Group E, Saudi Arabia triumphing over Cambodia 3-0 in Group F, Pacific Oceania emerging victorious with a 3-0 win against Kyrgyzstan, and Bahrain beating Guam 3-0 in Group H.
In the Billie Jean King Cup matches, Kyrgyzstan secured a 3-0 win against Iraq in Group A, Pakistan claimed a 2-1 victory against Jordan in Group B, Maldives dominated Qatar with a 3-0 win in Group C, Myanmar emerged victorious with a 3-0 win against Guam in Group D, Philippines secured a 3-0 win against Syria in Group E, Malaysia triumphed over Saudi Arabia with a 2-1 victory in Group F, and Nepal defeated Brunei 3-0 in Group F.
Looking ahead, the Sri Lanka girls’ team, having triumphed over Qatar on day one, is set to face Maldives, while the boys’ team, who secured a victory against Mongolia, will compete against Iraq.
