RCGC, Colombo, July 24 (ePRESS) – Veteran golfers Jayalath Perera and Anouk Chitty claimed top honours at the prestigious Pin Fernando Trophy and Pam Fernando Trophy respectively, as the much-awaited annual tournament concluded in fine style at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).
Jayalath Perera displayed consistency and control to emerge as the Pin Fernando Trophy champion, overcoming stiff competition from runner-up Kumudu Gunasekara. In the women’s segment, Anouk Chitty showed her class, defeating Deepani Gamage 3/2 to secure the Pam Fernando Trophy, capping off a memorable day on the course.
Anouk Chitty was the standout performer of the tournament, also winning the Ladies Best Gross Score with a fine round of 78 gross, while also claiming the Best Nett Score with 71 nett, showing her all-round prowess. Jade Jiggens settled for the Ladies Gross Score runner-up with a score of 89 gross, and Roshani Sangani finished as the Ladies Nett Score runner-up with 72 nett.
In the Senior Ladies’ category, Niranjali Amarasooriya clinched the Best Nett Score with a solid 78 nett.
The Junior Division saw young talent on full display as Vinuda Weerasinghe grabbed the Best Nett Score with 72 nett, edging out Thejas Rathis Kanth, who finished runner-up on 75 nett (B/B 9).
In the Masters Division, A.V. Rajendran produced a top performance to win the Best Nett Score with 68 nett, while A.D.S. Gunasekara followed closely with 75 nett to take runner-up.
The Seniors Division title was won by S.E. Captain with a 75 nett, narrowly beating Eranda Abeyratne, who carded 69 nett but was second best under the handicap system.
Eranda Abeyratne also featured in the Handicap Players Division C, where he finished runner-up with another 69 nett, while Asanga Seneviratne dominated the field with a brilliant 65 nett to take top honours.
In the Division B, Shirley Corea was declared the winner on 69 nett (B/B 9), narrowly ahead of Jayalath Perera, who also returned 69 nett but had to settle for runner-up due to countback.
The Handicap Division A was clinched by Harsha Abeywickrama with a fine 70 nett, as Gehan Siribaddana took runner-up with 74 nett.
