SILVERSTONE, United Kingdom, July 31, 2025 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s motor racing super star Yevan Ranasinghe David is set to make his debut in the highly competitive GB3 Championship this weekend, as he joins Xcel Motorsport for Round 5 at the iconic Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom.
The 18-year-old sensation enters the British single-seater series in top form, having already clinched four victories in the 2025 Euroformula Open Championship, where he currently holds second place overall in the driver standings. His performances across Europe have drawn praise for his raw pace, racing intelligence, and consistency under pressure.
Yevan’s entry into GB3 adds to a breakthrough season that has seen him emerge as one of Asia’s most promising young drivers on the international stage. For the Silverstone round, he will compete in three races — the same format as in Euroformula — giving him a solid opportunity to showcase his talent in front of British motorsport fans.
Xcel Motorsport’s Team Manager Gary Bonnor expressed high hopes for the young Sri Lankan’s debut.
“We’re really excited to welcome Yevan to the team for Silverstone. He’s proven himself to be a top talent in Euroformula this season, and we’re confident his experience and pace will translate well into the GB3 Championship. Silverstone is a demanding circuit, but we’re looking forward to seeing what he can achieve with us this weekend.”
Yevan, speaking ahead of the weekend, said he was eager to take on the new challenge.
“I am really excited to be joining Xcel Motorsport for Round 5 of the GB3 Championship. It’s a competitive field, and I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can, building a strong relationship with the team, and showing what I’m capable of on track.”
The Silverstone GP Circuit is one of the most historic and technical tracks in the world, with high-speed corners like Maggots, Becketts, and Stowe providing a true test of skill and bravery. For Yevan, who has raced mainly in Europe so far this season, adapting quickly to this fast-flowing British track will be crucial.
