COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, August 1, 2025 (ePRESS) – Laugfs Gas announced on Friday that it will not change the price of domestic gas cylinder refills in August, providing some relief to Sri Lankan households facing high living costs.
The current retail price of a 12.5kg domestic gas cylinder remains at Rs. 4,100, while the 5kg cylinder stays at Rs. 1,645, said Dr. Niroshan J. Pieries, Director and Cluster CEO of Laugfs Gas.
The last revision took place in April 2025, when prices were increased by Rs. 420 for the 12.5kg cylinder and Rs. 168 for the 5kg one.
“We understand the financial pressures faced by our consumers, and after careful evaluation, we have decided to keep the current prices unchanged,” Dr. Pieries said in a statement.
This decision comes as global energy markets remain volatile and as many Sri Lankan families continue to manage tight household budgets following recent inflationary pressures.
Laugfs Gas is one of the two main domestic gas suppliers in Sri Lanka.
