COLOMBO, Aug 8, 2025 (ePRESS) – Belarus’ national carrier, Belavia Airlines, will soon begin direct flights to Colombo in a move aimed at strengthening air links between the two countries, officials said Tuesday.
The announcement came during a courtesy visit by a senior Belavia delegation to the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) on August 5.
Talks focused on Belavia’s new business plans and opportunities in Sri Lanka’s aviation sector. CAASL welcomed the proposals, while Belavia expressed strong interest in moving forward.
CAASL Chairman Sunil Jayarathna led the Sri Lankan side, joined by senior officials. The Belavia team was headed by Deputy Director General and Chief Commercial Officer Uladzimir Barkun, and Head of Government and Industry Affairs MOlga Mikhed, along with other top officials.
Representatives from Far East Air Services (Pvt) Ltd — Belavia’s General Sales Agents in Sri Lanka — including Andre Fernando and Thanuja De Silva, also attended the meeting.
