COLOMBO, Aug 22, 2025 (ePRESS) – AM/Dehiaththakandiya National School from the Eastern Province emerged champions of the Capital Market Masters Quiz 2025, organised by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
The grand finale was held on August 21 at the iconic trading floor of the CSE in Colombo. Royal College, representing the Western Province, secured the first runner-up position, while Dharmasoka College from the Southern Province finished as second runner-up.
The competition, now in its second consecutive year, followed the launch of 100 Capital Market Clubs in schools across the island in 2023. The quiz brought together some of the brightest students to test their knowledge on global markets, the Sri Lankan economy, business, general knowledge, current affairs, sports, and entertainment.
In his opening remarks, CSE Chief Executive Officer Rajeeva Bandaranaike praised the young participants: “This achievement is a reflection of your hard work, curiosity, and perseverance. Each of you represents the best talent from your clusters, and your enthusiasm for learning is truly inspiring.”
Tushara Jayaratne, Deputy Director General of the SEC, highlighted ongoing reforms: “We are working closely with the Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Education to integrate capital market content into the school curriculum from Grade 6 onwards, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to enhance their financial literacy.”
