COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, October 14 (ePRESS) – Jevahn Sathasivam, a 17-year-old student from Asian International School (AIS), will represent Sri Lanka at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Manama, Bahrain, from October 20 to 31.

The talented golfing youngster is the reigning Faldo Series Sri Lanka Champion and 2024 Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Champion, making him the only player in the national team to have won the country’s top amateur title. The golf event will take place at the Royal Golf Club in Riffa, where Asia’s best young golfers will compete for honours.

Over the past two years, Jevahn has recorded three victories and nine top finishes in 15 world-ranked tournaments, achieving a point average of 467.8337.

Jevahn’s big moment came in 2024, when he won the 133rd Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship, defeating some of South Asia’s top amateur golfers. That victory made him one of the youngest national champions in Sri Lankan golf history. Soon after, he claimed another crown — the Faldo Series Sri Lanka Final, earning the right to be called the reigning Faldo Champion. This title, founded by six-time Major winner Sir Nick Faldo, is one of the most respected junior golf events in the region. He also won the Sri Lanka Junior Open in Colombo just before the Faldo Series. Building on these achievements, he will now represent Sri Lanka in the Faldo World Finals in Abu Dhabi this November.

These victories — at the Sri Lanka Amateur Championship, the Faldo Final, and the Junior Open — make Jevahn the only golfer in the current Sri Lankan squad to hold both national and junior titles, proving his ability to compete at the highest level.

In 2025, Jevahn has continued to show form and focus. He finished runner-up at the Sri Lanka Regional Junior Open, came ninth at the 134th Sri Lanka Amateur, and secured top-10 finishes at two SLG Golf Ranking Tournaments, finishing fifth and eleventh. He also gained international experience by competing in the Dutch International Junior Open in the Netherlands and the Mandiri Ciputra Junior World Championship in Indonesia — valuable exposure against some of the world’s top young golfers. He also competed in the prestigious US Open Qualifiers in Ohio, USA.

Known for his calm approach on the course, Jevahn plays with control and patience. He is steady off the tee swing, and his short game is amongst the best in the country. Coaches describe him as a golfer who “stays cool when it matters most.” This temperament will be key in Bahrain, where the desert conditions and unpredictable winds can challenge even the most experienced players.

For Asian International School, Jevahn’s achievements are a proud showcase of its commitment to balancing academics and sport. The school has built a strong reputation for nurturing talented students, and Jevahn is one of its brightest examples. His discipline, focus, and sportsmanship have made him a role model for young athletes at AIS.

With the guidance of his school, Jevahn will now look to carry Sri Lanka’s flag high at the Asian Youth Games. His combination of experience, mental strength, and technical skills gives him the confidence to challenge the best in Asia.
