COLOMBO, October 14, 2025 (ePRESS) – Two exceptional women from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) have brought pride to the nation after winning top honours at the prestigious SAFA Women Leadership Awards, which celebrates outstanding women leaders in accounting across South Asia.
CA Sri Lanka member Pyumi Sumanasekara was recognised with the “ESG Visionary Woman Award”, while CA student Dinali Jayasinghe received the “Rising Woman Student Award – CA” at a grand ceremony held at Cinnamon Life in Colombo.
The event, organised by the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), featured seven competitive categories among member nations including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. The dual victory by Sumanasekara and Jayasinghe highlighted the exceptional leadership and talent emerging from Sri Lanka’s accounting community.
Sumanasekara, a Partner – Climate Change & Sustainability Services at KPMG, brings over 18 years of experience in audit, assurance, and advisory, including 16 years specialising in ESG and climate change. Her global career spans London, the Middle East, and Asia, where she has led projects in sustainability strategy, governance, and reporting. She holds a Master’s Degree in Financial Economics and is widely regarded as a visionary in advancing corporate sustainability.
Jayasinghe, an Assistant Manager in Audit and Assurance at Deloitte Sri Lanka, has already made her mark as a top performer. She secured first place in the CA Sri Lanka Business Level Examination in June 2021 and graduated with first-class honours in Accounting from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The SAFA Women Leadership Awards aim to inspire future generations of women professionals by recognising excellence, innovation, and leadership in the region. The success of these two Sri Lankans underscores the growing influence of women in finance and accounting and reflects CA Sri Lanka’s continued commitment to nurturing leadership that drives positive change.
