NUWARA ELIYA, Sri Lanka, October 21 (ePRESS) Deanath Kulathunga produced an outstanding performance to emerge as the Champion HSBC Premier Golfer for 2025, scoring 41 points to win the Overall Premier Challenge Trophy at the 12th HSBC Premier Golf Tournament held at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club.
Kulathunga, who also won the Seniors Division with the same score, earned the grand prize of a fully paid hospitality package to witness The 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, England, from July 16 to 19, 2026 – one of the oldest and most iconic golf tournaments in the world.
The exclusive annual event, celebrating HSBC’s long-standing relationship with its Premier customers, recorded its highest-ever participation this year with over 140 golfers competing over a thrilling weekend of golf.
In the divisional categories, Chanaka Perera clinched the A Division title with 32 points, while Thushara Rupasinghe took the B Division crown with 40 points. The C Division was won by Reyhan Morris with 35 points, and Dinoo De Mel claimed victory in the Ladies’ category with 39 points.
Special event awards were also presented, with Prinyanga Hapugalle winning the Putting Under the Stars contest. Sathis Balasubramanium showcased his power and accuracy by winning both the Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin awards.
Runners-up honours went to Sanjiv Vairavanathan in the A Division with 30 points, Romesh Abhayaratne in the B Division with 38 points B/B9, Mohamed Reza in the C Division with 33 points, Asitha Wijesekera in the Seniors Division with 32 points B/B9, and Anouck Chitty in the Ladies’ Division with 34 points.
