COLOMBO, February 2 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s Saha Kapilasena produced a fighting performance to record a hard-earned victory in the first round of the ITF J30 Colombo Sri Lanka Week 2, held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) courts in Colombo.
In the Boys’ Singles first round, Saha Kapilasena defeated Abbi Yadya Misa of India in a closely contested three-set match. Saha won the first set 6/3, dropped the second set 3/6, and then showed strong mental strength to win the deciding tie-break 7/6 (4). His steady baseline play and calm shot selection helped him seal the match.
Another Sri Lankan player, Ganuka Fernando, also enjoyed a successful outing. Ganuka beat Yush Kumar of India in straight sets, winning 7/6 (4), 6/0. After a tight first set, Ganuka dominated the second set with powerful groundstrokes and accurate serving.
In the Girls’ Singles first round, Annaya Norbert of Sri Lanka delivered a solid performance against Armani Naiavadi of India. Annaya controlled the rallies and won comfortably in straight sets, 6/3, 6/3.
The strong performances by the Sri Lankan players gave local fans encouragement as the international junior tournament continued in Colombo.
