COLOMBO, Feb 3 (ePRESS) – SES Engineering Pvt Ltd and Cavani Clothing Pvt Ltd have come forward to support two of Sri Lanka’s most promising young tennis players, Ganuka Fernando and Mayooran Kubherane of St Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya, by providing long-term sponsorship at a ceremony held at the BRC Grounds Hall in Colombo recently.
SES Engineering will sponsor their T-shirts and shorts, while Cavani Clothing will sponsor their clothing accessories.
Ganuka Fernando, the current Sri Lanka No.1 in the Under-18 age group, recently reached the final of the Men’s Singles event at the SSC Open. He also became the youngest men’s singles finalist at that tournament in at least the last 30 years. Mayooran Kubherane, who is ranked Sri Lanka No.1 in the Under-16 boys’ category, was selected to represent the Sri Lanka Under-16 Junior Davis Cup team for 2026. He also won the Under-16 singles title at the same SSC Open.
SES Engineering Pvt Ltd has agreed to sponsor the players’ T-shirts and shorts for the next three years. Its Director, Asela Perera, handed over the sponsorship at the ceremony. He said the company decided to support the two players because it strongly believes in their future and wants to be part of their journey in Sri Lanka tennis.
Meanwhile, Cavani Clothing Pvt Ltd, a premium Sri Lankan innerwear brand, provided sponsorship for their clothing accessories. Rasmi Meeran, Head of Operations of Cavani Clothing, said the support was not only about providing garments but also about helping local talent with international ambition and strengthening Sri Lanka’s sporting system in a meaningful and sustainable way.
Both players, who are still schoolboys, are expected to benefit greatly from this long-term support as they continue their tennis development and prepare for higher-level competition.
Several officials from St Peter’s College were present at the event, including Rev Fr Thusitha Solangaarachchi (Sports Coordinator), Rev Fr Praveen Wijesekara, Roshan Fernando (President of the Old Boys’ Union) and Sohan Patrick (President of the Tennis Foundation).
