Horizon College International clinch TISSL Basketball Under-17 Girls Title

COLOMBO, Feb 3, (ePRESS) – Horizon College International (HCI), Malabe, emerged as champions of The Inter-international Schools of Sri Lanka (TISSL) Under-17 Girls Basketball Tournament after defeating Elizabeth Moir School (EMS) by 64–38 in the final, played in Colombo recently.

In the championship match, HCI produced its best performance of the tournament, defeating EMS 64–38. The Malabe-based side controlled the game from the opening quarter with sharp passing, tight defense, and fast transitions, leaving no room for a comeback.

The semi-final was the most intense contest of the tournament. Horizon faced a strong challenge from Colombo International School (CIS) and survived a tense finish to win 46–45, sealing their place in the final by a single point after maintaining composure in the closing seconds.

Earlier, Horizon recorded a strong 37–09 win over Wycherley International School, Colombo, showing their defensive strength and depth across the court.

Their campaign began with a solid 29–20 victory against Lyceum International School, Wattala, followed by a superior 41–11 win over Elizabeth Moir School, underlining their consistency throughout the competition.

Individual brilliance also stood out for the champions. Tarisha De Silva was named Best Defensive Player for her exceptional reading of the game and disciplined marking, while Hasandi Peiris earned the Most Valuable Player award for her outstanding all-around contribution and leadership on court.
