COLOMBO, Feb 4 (ePRESS) – Veteran tennis players Chammika de Silva and Arjun Fernando won the Over-55 Doubles title at the ongoing YETI-SSC Open Tennis Championship played at the SSC Tennis Courts, Maitland Place, Colombo.
In the Over-55 Doubles final, Chammika de Silva and Arjun Fernando defeated Ganendra Subramaniam and Thusita Gamage in a hard-fought three-set match. They lost the first set 2/6 but came back strongly to win the second set 6/4 and sealed the match in the match tie-break 11/9.
The winning pair showed good teamwork and steady baseline play. They controlled the rallies in the later stages and used their experience to handle pressure points well.
Earlier in the semi-final, Chammika de Silva and Arjun Fernando produced a dominant performance to beat Rohan Fernando and Ranjan Kuruppu in straight sets, 6/2, 6/1.
