COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, February 21 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s doubles player Saha Kapilasena displayed remarkable fighting spirit at the ITF J30 Colombo, February Week 4 tournament held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) courts in Colombo, despite ending on the losing side in the boys’ doubles final.
Kapilasena, partnering Ganuka Fernando, battled hard before going down 6-2, 7-5 to the strong Hong Kong–China combination of Jason Fu and Yuxuan Li in a gripping final. The visiting pair dominated the opening set with powerful serving and sharp net play, racing to a 6-2 win as the Sri Lankans struggled to find their rhythm.
However, the second set told a different story. Kapilasena raised his game with confident volleys and clever positioning at the net, while Fernando delivered solid returns from the baseline. The Sri Lankan duo matched their opponents point for point and showed excellent teamwork to stay level deep into the set.
At 5-5, the match hung in the balance. But a few costly errors in the closing stages allowed Fu and Li to secure a crucial break before sealing the contest 7-5.
