NUWARA ELIYA, Feb 27 (ePRESS) – Jacob Norton produced a composed performance to win the Boys Open Division at the SLG President’s Cup Junior Open Golf Championship 2026, played at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club.
Representing Colombo, Norton returned rounds of 78, 75 and an impressive 72 for a winning total of 225 to dominate the Open Division (19–25 yrs)
After opening with 78, he improved to 75 in the second round before closing strongly with a 72 — the best finishing round among the top contenders
Hiruka Kanishka Thathsara of Kandy finished runner-up with 250 (77, 84, 89), while Nirvan Hettiarachchi of Colombo ended third on 253 (83, 86, 84). Isuru Shrimal of Colombo placed fourth with 298 (116, 86, 96)
Lavidu Sohas Premarathna of Ananda College clinched the Gold Division title with a superb 217 (70, 79, 68). Thejas Rathiskanth of Colombo was second with 228 (78, 73, 77), closely followed by Janeesh Sasmitha Weerasinghe of Ananda on 229 (76, 78, 75).
S. Sadhurshiyan (Nuwara Eliya) finished fourth with 269 (96, 85, 88), ahead of S. Vaksharan (305 – 113, 99, 93), K. Pradishan (333 – 111, 114, 108), Shaveen Gunatilleke (357 – 123, 117, 117), and J.D. Aditha Mithsara (227 – 114, 113, NR)
GOLD DIVISION GIRLS (15–18 yrs – Red Markers)
Sithara Lorance of Kandy emerged champion with 268 (96, 86, 86). Kaitlyn Norton of Colombo finished second with 287 (109, 86, 92), while Mushfika Muzammil of Kandy was third on 327 (111, 108, 108)
SILVER DIVISION (13–14 yrs – 18 Holes Boys)
Udheera Rashwitha Bandara of Ananda won with 232 (75, 78, 79). Lithum Hansana Siva (AC) finished second with 283 (87, 93, 103), followed by G.P. Hiranya Wijerathne (AC) on 324 (96, 120, 108).
Leish Gulshan (412 – 116, 145, 151), Dane Braneeth (439 – 149, 145, 145), Tasheen Dilshara (451 – 149, 154, 148), Bihandhu Induwara (505 – 161, 180, 164), Sasiru Sandesh (513 – 177, 168, 168), and K. Kavesh (578 – 175, 208, 195) completed the standings
SILVER DIVISION GIRLS (13–14 yrs – Red Markers)
Vihara Thisarani Herath of Ananda topped the division with 265 (92, 87, 86). Venudi Keerthana (Kandy) placed second with 312 (105, 101, 106), ahead of Hesali Nesaka (394 – 123, 128, 143) and Amodhya Niki Gunasekara (447 – 169, 135, 143)
BRONZE DIVISION (11–12 yrs – 11 Holes Boys)
Yuvan Rathiskanth of Colombo produced an outstanding performance to win with 148 (53, 48, 47). W. Dhyana Anusara Perera finished second on 176 (61, 61, 54), narrowly ahead of G.G. Jayith Minhas Guruge (177 – 60, 57, 60).
P. Thuwakaran (192 – 67, 69, 56), Ovindu Gawesh Ekanayake (197 – 64, 65, 68), and K. Kirthees (283 – 122, 84, 77) followed
BRONZE DIVISION GIRLS (11–12 yrs – Yellow Markers)
Fathima Zeeniya of Kandy won with 176 (61, 56, 59). Mushfira Muzammil was second on 184 (64, 61, 59), while Dulkini Subanya Kangara (185 – 62, 64, 59) was third.
Hesandi Gayansa Meepawala (205 – 72, 64, 69), Chrishalini Danendran (210 – 70, 73, 67), and Bimansa Januli Rajapaksha (213 – 74, 74, 65) completed the results
COPPER DIVISION (10 yrs & Under – 9 Holes Boys)
Usara Nugegoda of A’Pura Golf Club claimed the title with 125 (42, 36, 47). Thisura Nayana Premarathana finished second with 128 (36, 48, 44), followed by Kenuka Bandara Herath on 142 (52, 42, 48).
