COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, Mar 19 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka produced a near-flawless performance built on control, consistency and tactical discipline to defeat Pakistan 2-0 and storm into the semi-finals of the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Juniors Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifying Event at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) courts in Colombo.

Competing among 12 nations, the hosts applied a structured, high-percentage game plan, winning key baseline exchanges and limiting unforced errors to secure both singles matches in straight sets and seal the tie early.

Annaya Norbert of Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya gave Sri Lanka the ideal start with a composed and calculated display in the first singles, beating Romisa Malik 6-1, 6-4. Norbert dictated rallies with deep, controlled groundstrokes and maintained a strong first-serve percentage, allowing her to dominate the opening set. In the second set, she absorbed pressure and managed crucial points with precision to close out the match efficiently.

Akesha Silva of Newstead College Negombo followed with an equally dominant performance in the second singles, overcoming Hajara Sohail 6-1, 6-2. Silva’s consistency from the baseline, sharp court positioning and smart shot selection disrupted her opponent’s rhythm, as she controlled the tempo and converted key break points to secure victory without difficulty.
