COLOMBO, Aug 26 (ePRESS) – AB Mauri Lanka has been recognised at the prestigious AB Mauri Global Target Zero Safety Awards 2023/24, winning in the Safety Performance category.
The award highlights the company’s strong commitment to health and safety, with a focus on achieving zero accidents. AB Mauri Lanka has introduced many safety measures and training programmes, creating a safe workplace for employees, contractors, and visitors.
A key project is Project SAFE, launched in 2017, which lifted the company’s safety score from 11 percent to 96 percent by 2023/24. This achievement placed AB Mauri Lanka among the top ten performers out of 52 AB Mauri facilities worldwide.
The company said its success comes from teamwork, regular risk assessments, and strict reporting of safety improvements. It achieved a 100 percent completion rate in Safety Improvement Reports, ensuring incidents were quickly addressed.
Employee engagement has also been central to the safety drive. Annual award ceremonies recognise individuals and teams who lead by example, while training programmes such as “Train the Trainer” continue to improve safety awareness.
AB Mauri Lanka also took its safety culture outside its plants, organising customer-focused events to spread awareness.
“Our journey shows that safety is everyone’s responsibility,” the company said, stressing that commitment at every level has been key to winning the award.
