COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, August 16, 2025 (ePRESS) – Asian International School’s (AIS) young motorsport sensation, Chenuka Caldera (#79), is ready to take the biggest leap of his racing career, stepping into the elite Super Sport Open class on a 1000cc machine at just 14 years old. His high-powered debut will come at the Rotherham Circuit Meet 2025 – Round 1, with qualifying on August 16 and race day on August 17.

Coming from a proud racing family – with his father a respected figure in Sri Lanka’s motorsport community – Chenuka has inherited both the passion and competitive spirit for speed. Since beginning his career in 2023, he has climbed the ranks at an astonishing pace, moving from 125cc to 150cc, then to 250cc, and now on to a BMW M1000 superbike, a machine typically reserved for experienced professionals.

To prepare for this challenge, Chenuka has undergone advanced rider training programmes in Malaysia, Thailand, and India, fine-tuning his racecraft to handle the raw power and technical demands of the premier class. In addition to competing in the Super Sport Open, he will also race in the Group O 160cc and Super Sport 250cc classes at Rotherham, showcasing his versatility across multiple categories.

Chenuka’s journey has been powered by the strong backing of his sponsor, Gengio Auto Spares, a trusted name in European auto precision, known for genuine and OEM spare parts, performance upgrades, and custom modifications. Their support has been crucial in helping this AIS prodigy aim for national and international racing success.

For AIS, Chenuka’s rise is a proud moment that reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing excellence both in academics and co-curricular activities. Known for producing well-rounded students with strong values and leadership qualities, AIS actively supports young talent in sports, arts, and innovation.

“Chenuka’s achievement is an inspiration to all our students,” said Nihara Bagoos, Head of Sports at Asian International School. “He has shown that with passion, discipline, and the right guidance, even the biggest goals are within reach. We fully expect him to deliver a strong performance – and hopefully a victory – in this race. We are proud to see him represent AIS on such a grand stage, and we wish him the very best as he takes on this new challenge.”

With his family heritage, world-class training, the backing of his sponsor, Gengio Auto Spares and the full support of his school, Chenuka Caldera is ready to make his mark in the fastest lane of Sri Lankan motorsport.
