HONG KONG, September 14 (ePRESS) – Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) has once again been recognised on the regional stage, winning the award for Best Container Terminal – Asia (under 4 million TEUs) at the 2025 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards.
This is the ninth year in a row that CICT has received this honour, strengthening its reputation as a key regional hub for transshipment and container handling.
The awards ceremony took place on September 3 at the Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel. The event brought together leaders and decision-makers from the freight, logistics, and supply chain industries across Asia and the Pacific.
Hosted annually by Asia Cargo News, the AFLAS Awards recognise companies that show leadership, reliability, innovation, and strong customer service. The winners are decided through a three-step process of nominations, technical evaluation, and final voting by industry professionals such as freight forwarders, logistics experts, and clients. This year, awards were given in 49 categories, with four top nominees in each category competing in the final round.
CICT CEO Jan Zhang said the award was a reflection of the trust placed in the terminal by its customers and partners.
“This recognition reflects the trust and support of our valued customers and partners across Asia and the Pacific. We are proud to be acknowledged for our consistency and commitment to service excellence. It drives us to continually improve and innovate to meet evolving industry needs,” Zhang said.
Since it began full operations in 2014, CICT has shown strong growth. The terminal increased its throughput from 680,000 TEUs in its first year to over 3 million TEUs annually. This represents an average growth rate of nearly 19% per year.
Winning the AFLAS Award for nine consecutive years highlights CICT’s strong operational base and its commitment to high-quality service in a competitive regional and global market.
