COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, October 7 (ePRESS) – The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has strengthened its commitment to youth empowerment and education by supporting Coolest Projects Sri Lanka 2025, an event that encouraged young people to create innovative solutions to real-world problems through technology.

Organised by the STEMUP Educational Foundation in collaboration with Commercial Bank and the UK-based Raspberry Pi Foundation, the event showcased 100 outstanding student projects shortlisted from over 200 entries across the island. It provided a national platform for students to display creativity, technical skill, and problem-solving ability before international experts.

Highlighting the event’s global reach, officials from the Raspberry Pi Foundation and delegates from more than 20 countries interacted directly with students, exchanging insights on technology-driven innovation and its growing role in shaping the future.

“As a bank committed to investing in the future, we believe in supporting the creativity and talent of young people,” said Commercial Bank Deputy Chairman Raja Senanayake. “Events like Coolest Projects give students the exposure and confidence they need to contribute positively to society. We are proud to be part of this journey of innovation.”

The competition, which has gained worldwide recognition, inspired students to identify daily challenges and find smart solutions using technology. This year’s entries covered a wide range of fields, including artificial intelligence, robotics, sustainability, mobile applications, and digital design.

A distinguished panel of judges selected the most impactful innovations, while visitors voted for the Most Popular Awards. The event also promoted inclusivity and teamwork, ensuring equal opportunity for all participants.

Educators, tech professionals, and international guests attended in large numbers, further establishing Sri Lanka as a growing hub for young digital talent. Selected winning projects will now gain international exposure, taking Sri Lankan innovation to the global stage.

Commercial Bank, Sri Lanka’s largest private sector lender and first bank to achieve a market capitalisation of over US$ 1 billion, continues to play a leading role in digital transformation. It is also the country’s first 100% carbon-neutral bank and operates the widest international footprint among Sri Lankan banks, with branches in Bangladesh, the Maldives, Myanmar, and a representative office in Dubai.
