Fintech leader WEBXPAY names Ex-CBSL Deputy Governor Thassim as Non-Executive Director

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, July 18, (ePRESS) – WEBXPAY, Sri Lanka’s leading digital-finance innovator, announced the appointment of Mr. A. A. M. Thassim, the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), as a Non-Executive Director.

During his tenure at the CBSL, Mr. Thassim played a pivotal role in overseeing key financial policies such as Basel III, IFRS 9 adoption, and the country-wide rollout of the Cheque Imaging and Truncation System. He also headed the Financial System Stability Cluster and served on several national committees, including the Monetary Policy Board and Audit Committee.

Mr. Thassim’s industry influence extends beyond the CBSL. He has chaired the Credit Information Bureau, the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka, and served on the boards of several organizations, including the Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation and LankaClear (Pvt) Ltd., now known as LankaPay, the country’s national clearing house.

In addition to being an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK), Mr. Thassim holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He has also completed executive programmes at Harvard Kennedy School and the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.
