COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, August 1, 2025 (ePRESS) – The Federation of Information Technology (FITIS) unveiled its strategic plan to help Sri Lanka reach its goal of building a $15 billion digital economy by 2030. At a special media event on Wednesday, FITIS Chairman Dr. Dayan Rajapakse outlined the steps needed to achieve this ambitious target.
Sri Lanka’s government is focused on transforming the nation into a digitally driven economy that is globally competitive and inclusive. Dr. Rajapakse, who is also the Group Managing Director of Esoft Group, emphasized that the digital economy would drive growth, improve governance, and create jobs.
“The goal is part of a larger effort to leverage digital platforms and innovations to accelerate Sri Lanka’s economic growth,” Dr. Rajapakse said. “We are committed to collaborating with the government, IT industry stakeholders, international partners, and academia to ensure long-term success.”
He also highlighted the importance of fostering a stable environment for investors and elevating Sri Lanka’s global technology identity. By focusing on emerging technologies, upskilling the workforce, and scaling local tech to international markets, Sri Lanka aims to become Asia’s leading hub for digital innovation.
Dr. Rajapakse expressed confidence that with continued collaboration and focus on key areas, Sri Lanka would reach its digital economy target by 2030.
