COLOMBO, Saturday, January 17 (ePRESS) – IMA Muaythai Club stamped its authority at the National Muaythai Championship 2026, dominating the medal table at the five-day tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Muaythai Federation and held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo last week.

Competing against the best fighters in the country, IMA Muaythai Club excelled. The club fielded a strong squad of 64 athletes and finished with an outstanding medal haul of 25 gold, 16 silver and 16 bronze medals, emerging as one of the top-performing teams of the tournament.

The success was guided by experienced coach Kru M.H.M. Fahid. Fahid has also served as the National Muaythai Team Coach for the past two years, including on foreign tours.

A major highlight of the championship was the Best Muaythai Athlete Awards. Out of 12 Best Athlete awards presented during the event, IMA Muaythai Club fighters claimed seven of the eight awards in the youth categories.

Beyond the fights, the contribution of the IMA Referee and Judge Panel was also noteworthy.

The National Muaythai Championship 2026 attracted 479 athletes from 36 Muaythai clubs across Sri Lanka. Teams from the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, and several leading civilian clubs took part.
