SINGAPORE, August 17, 2025 (ePRESS) – The “Invest Sri Lanka” Investor Forum, organised by the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), wrapped up successfully at the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay, drawing more than 150 prospective investors from across sectors.
The high-profile event, held in association with the Sri Lankan High Commission in Singapore, made a powerful pitch to channel investment flows into the island nation’s capital market.
The forum brought together a distinguished line-up of speakers including Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Senarath Dissanayake, SEC Chairman Ray Abeywardena, CSE Director Senior Prof. D.B.P.H. Dissabandara, Asia Frontier Capital fund manager Ruchir Desai, and Dr. Naveen Gunawardane of LYNEAR Wealth Management.
They were joined by senior representatives of the SEC, CSE, 11 listed companies and stockbroking firms, presenting a united front to showcase Sri Lanka’s potential.
Abeywardena struck a confident note, telling investors: “Sri Lanka is not merely a story of recovery, it is a story of transformation. We have a stable macroeconomic environment, a committed reforms agenda, and a capital market gaining regional traction.”
Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Prof. Anil Jayantha Fernando, outlined the government’s investment-led growth strategy to overcome what he called a “lost decade” of stagnation. His presentation highlighted fresh fiscal laws and priority sectors including energy, tourism, manufacturing, agriculture, logistics and digitalisation.
Central Bank Governor Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe added that with debt restructuring close to completion, Sri Lanka could soon see a sovereign rating upgrade from CCC+ to the B category. “Now is the time to seize the opportunity, before the upgrade takes place,” he urged.
The programme also featured two panel discussions on “The Sri Lankan Economy in Light of Global Uncertainty” and the “Sri Lankan Equity Market Outlook”, providing investors with insights into both risks and opportunities.
Organisers said the strong turnout in Singapore highlighted rising interest in Sri Lanka’s transformation story and the opportunities opening up in its capital market.
