COLOMBO, Aug 14 (ePRESS) – PickMe, Sri Lanka’s pioneering digital mobility platform, is stepping up investment in technology and innovation as it enters its second decade, Founder and CEO Jiffry Zulfer said at the company’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
The home-grown brand is pouring resources into artificial intelligence to improve customer service, optimise routes and sharpen data analytics. Zulfer said PickMe is also working with local universities to develop future talent.
“Our vision is to build inclusive digital ecosystems that go beyond cities and reach rural Sri Lanka,” he told guests, adding that policymakers should fast-track reforms to strengthen the country’s digital economy.
While praising measures such as VAT parity between local and foreign players, Zulfer urged broader regulatory equity, stronger data protection laws and clear consumer rights. “If we want to unlock the full potential of Sri Lanka’s digital future, we need smarter, more inclusive policy,” he said.
The milestone event ended with the grand finale of a nationwide raffle draw under the theme “We’re building for the next 100 years.” A loyal PickMe user won the Rs. 1 million grand prize, part of Rs. 10 million in giveaways.
Weekly winners received iPhones, Samsung phones, Apple Watches and more, while 40 independent drivers were rewarded Rs. 100,000 each for meeting service targets.
From its humble beginnings as a tech start-up in 2015, PickMe has grown into a household name and one of Sri Lanka’s Top 30 most valuable brands. “This is more than a business milestone; it’s a collective achievement. We didn’t reach this point alone,” Zulfer said.
