Quarter-finals tee off in 103rd Royal Colombo Golf Club Championship

COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – The 103rd Royal Colombo Golf Club’s (RCGC) Club Championship continues to captivate the golfing community as the quarterfinals kick off on Thursday, August 15 at the RCGC course. The championship, a highlight on Sri Lanka’s golfing calendar, features intense match play in both the Gentlemen’s and Ladies’ categories.

The Gentlemen’s Club Championship, played off the Blue Tee, is set to witness intense competition among the top 16 golfers. The matches will commence at 11 AM, with Yannik Kumara facing Armond Flomer Caldera. Following them, Shamel Perera will take on Jacob Norton at 11:10 AM, and Sachin de Silva will compete against Ranil Peiris at 11:20 AM.

At 11:40 AM, Husni Uwise will go head-to-head with Adam Fernando, while Jevahn Sathasivam battles Thejas Rathis Kanth at 11:50 AM. The final matches of the day will see Reshan Algama versus Rusi Captain at 12:00 PM and Venuda Weerasinghe against Sanjul de Silva at 12:10 PM. The eagerly anticipated quarterfinals are set for Friday, August 16, followed by the semi-finals on Saturday, and the championship final on Sunday.

In the Ladies’ Club Championship, played off the Red Tee, Jade Jiggens and Sanduni Wanasinghe will clash in a quarter-final on August 16 at 12:50 PM. The winner will advance to the semi-final to face Kaya Daluwatte on Saturday, August 17, at 1:20 PM. The second semi-final, scheduled for 1:30 PM on the same day, will feature a match between Tiru Jesudasan and Dhevinka Kanag-isvaran. The final, expected to be an exciting showdown, will take place on Sunday, August 18, at 8:00 AM.

The Ladies’ Bronze Club Championship, also played off the Red Tee, has already set the stage for thrilling quarterfinals today. At 12:40 PM, Dilini Hennayake will compete against Deepani Gamage, followed by Dinoo de Mel facing Sandra Codien at 12:50 PM. The third quarterfinal will see Ellane Sterchi against Manori Jayakody at 1:00 PM, and the final quarter-final of the day will be between Dhanushi Wanasinghe and MD Bandaranayake at 1:10 PM.

The semi-finals of the Ladies’ Bronze Club Championship are scheduled for tomorrow, August 16, at 1:10 PM and 1:20 PM, with the final match set to be played on Saturday, August 17, at 1:50 PM.
