Reshan Algama clinches Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf title in style

NUWARA ELIYA, Mar 9 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s top-ranked junior golfer Reshan Algama produced a clinical performance to win the Gold and Silver Combined Division at the Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship, organised by Sri Lanka Golf and sponsored by PRIMA, which concluded at the picturesque Nuwara Eliya Golf Club.

Algama displayed class and consistency throughout the three-day tournament, carding rounds of 69, 78 and 70 to finish with an impressive total gross of 217. His steady play kept him firmly in control of the leaderboard as he secured the title with an eight-stroke margin over runner-up Adithya Weerasinghe of Ananda College.

Weerasinghe returned rounds of 72, 75 and 78 for a total of 225 to finish second, while Janeesh Weerasinghe placed third with scores of 72, 79 and 75 for a 226 aggregate. Jacob Norton finished fourth with rounds of 76, 79 and 73, ending on a total of 228.

Lavindu Premaratne secured fifth place with 237 (79, 80, 78) while Thejas Rathiskanth finished sixth on 240. Udheera Bandara placed seventh with a total of 246.

In the Girls Gold and Silver Combined Division, India’s Asara Sawhney claimed the title with rounds of 79, 76 and 76 for a total of 231. Keya Abhayaratne finished second with 270 (92, 90, 88) while Anumi Karunathilake ended third with 277 (95, 92, 90). Vihara Thisarani Herath placed fourth with 278, followed by Kaitlyn Norton on 287.

In the junior boys category, Jaeden Sathasivam topped the standings with rounds of 57, 60 and 66 for a total of 183. Yuvan Rathiskanth finished second on 191 (61, 70, 60) while Danik Daluwatte placed third with 198 (66, 60, 72).

Meanwhile, Muzammil Mushfira won another girls division with scores of 76, 71 and 76 for a total of 223, finishing ahead of Dulkini Subanya Kangara on 226 and Mohomad Roomi Fathima Zeeniya on 230.

In the Bronze Division, Abhiman Abeywardhana produced an outstanding performance to win with rounds of 36, 32 and 33 for a total of 101. Thisura Nayana Premarathana finished second with 109, while Shashidu Amarasinghe secured third place on 119.

In the Copper Division, Pradeep Hakshhara emerged champion with rounds of 55, 50 and 49 for a total of 154, while Dinara Perera finished runner-up on 166 and Ompragash Thrinayani placed third with 176.
