Saha Kapilasena dominates as ITF J30 Colombo begins

COLOMBO, January 26 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s Saha Kapilasena and Gehansa Methnadi recorded impressive first-round victories at the ITF Junior World Tennis J30 Colombo – Week One, played at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) clay courts in Colombo.

Saha Kapilasena produced a dominant performance in the boys’ first round, defeating Paul Jason Sutisna of Indonesia in straight sets 6–0, 6–1, showing strong control from the baseline and consistent serving.

In another boys’ match, Ganuka Fernando of Sri Lanka fought hard to overcome Tirumrugan Vishwanathan of India in a three-set battle 6–0, 2–6, 6–3, after losing momentum in the second set but recovering well in the decider.

Mayooran Kubheran of Sri Lanka also advanced to the next round with a solid win over Marc Joe Sutisha of Australia, winning 7–5, 7–5 in a closely contested match.

In the girls’ first round, Gehansa Methnadi of Sri Lanka delivered a confident display to defeat Nariia Markevich of Australia 6–1, 6–3, using accurate groundstrokes and steady defence.

Yuhansa Peiris of Sri Lanka also moved into the next round after beating Ji Yeon Park of Korea 6–2, 6–2, in a match controlled from start to finish.

The tournament continues at the SLTA courts with more first-round and second-round matches scheduled over the coming days
