Sri Lanka clinches first medal at 11th Asian Age Group Swimming Championship

New Clark City, Philippines, Feb 29, 7.30PM – Sri Lanka earned a bronze medal in the women’s 18 and Over 4X200m freestyle relay on the fourth day of the 11th Age Group Swimming Championship in the Philippines. The race took place in New Clark City.

Led by team captain Minagi Rupesinghe, Aneeka Sumanatilleke, Linara Gunasekara, and Seneshi Herath, Sri Lanka’s women’s relay team completed the race in 9 minutes and 52.22 seconds. This medal marks Sri Lanka’s first and only medal in the tournament, which includes 45 nations competing. The championship will conclude on March 9.

Thailand secured the gold medal with a time of 8 minutes and 27.25 seconds, while Hong Kong claimed the silver medal with a time of 8 minutes and 38.57 seconds. Sri Lanka’s achievement in securing the bronze medal reflects their strong performance in the competition.
