COLOMBO, March 23 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka made a commanding start to the 2026 Junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifying Tournament with a convincing 3-0 victory over Macau at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) courts in Colombo.

The hosts dominated all three matches, displaying superior skill and control from the outset to seal a comfortable win in their opening tie of the competition.

Ashlin de Silva set the tone with a clinical performance in the first singles, brushing aside Hei U Chao 6-0, 6-1 in a one-sided contest. The Sri Lankan player controlled the rallies with ease and gave his opponent little room to settle.

In the second singles, Mayooran Kubherane continued Sri Lanka’s strong momentum, defeating Chak Sum Rex Xu 6-2, 6-1. Kubherane combined steady baseline play with aggressive finishing to wrap up the tie for the hosts.

The Sri Lankan pair then completed a clean sweep in the doubles. Kubherane and de Silva worked in perfect coordination to overcome Chak Sum Rex Xu and Ka Chong 7-4, 6-0, underlining their dominance at the net and from the baseline.

With this emphatic victory, Sri Lanka have made an impressive start and will look to build on this performance in their upcoming matches of the tournament.
