COLOMBO, Mar 26, Thursday (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka produced a strong performance to beat Pacific Oceania 2-0 in their quarter-final clash at the 2026 Junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifying Event held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) courts in Colombo, booking a place in the semi-finals in impressive fashion.
Sri Lanka made a solid start through Ashlin de Silva, who fought back brilliantly to defeat Aifili Tamasosslii in a tough three-set battle. After losing the first set in a tie-break 6-7, Ashlin showed great determination and control to dominate the next two sets 6-1, 7-5 and give Sri Lanka an early lead.
In the second singles, Mayooran Kubherne delivered a clinical performance to seal the tie. He outplayed Uraia Biauniceva with ease, recording a convincing straight-sets victory of 6-1, 6-1 to secure Sri Lanka’s place in the last four.
The hosts have shown strong form throughout the tournament, which features 15 nations including Macau, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Oman, Turkmenistan, Myanmar, Malaysia, Guam, Laos, Philippines, Vietnam, Nepal, Mongolia, Pacific Oceania and Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka will now face Malaysia in the semi-final on Friday, as they look to continue their winning momentum and move closer to qualification for the next stage of the prestigious junior team competition.
