Sri Lankan Girls U16 Team undefeated, ready for Billie Jean King Cup in Kazakhstan

Colombo, Mar 3, 7.45PM – the Sri Lankan Under 16 Girls’ tennis team is all set to compete in Kazakhstan for the final qualifying rounds of the Billie Jean King Cup Juniors by Gainbridge – Asia Oceania event. This important tennis competition is scheduled to happen from May 13 to May 18 in Kazakhstan.

The girls from Sri Lanka have been doing exceptionally well so far. They have not lost a single match! In the pre-qualifying rounds held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts in Colombo from February 19 to February 24, they defeated Qatar 3-0, Maldives 3-0, Malaysia 2-0, Turkmenistan 2-0, and Kyrgyzstan 2-0.

The team consists of Dinara de Silva from St Bridget’s Convent, Arushi Thomas from Newstead College, Oneli Samarawickrama, and US-based Ivanka Samarasinghe. These talented girls, guided by Coach Meshal Sinnen, have shown incredible skills on the tennis court.

Their outstanding performance in the pre-qualifiers has earned them a well-deserved opportunity to represent Sri Lanka on the international stage in the final qualifying rounds.
