COLOMBO, Aug 5, 2025 (ePRESS) – Sri Lankan passport holders can now enjoy easier access to 42 countries and territories, after the island nation’s travel document climbed five places to rank 91st globally in the Henley Passport Index 2025, matching the position of Iran.
The improvement reflects broader travel freedom for Sri Lankans, who are now eligible to enter a wider range of countries either visa-free, with visa on arrival (VOA), or through electronic travel authorisation (ETA).
The destinations span Asia, the Pacific, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas, offering Sri Lankan travellers more opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchange.
According to the latest index, Sri Lankans now enjoy travel privileges to 42 nations and territories, including:

Singapore, Thailand, Maldives (VOA), Nepal (VOA), Cambodia (VOA), Laos (VOA), Timor-Leste (VOA), Micronesia, Kiribati, Palau Islands (VOA), Samoa (VOA), Tuvalu (VOA), Cook Islands, Niue
Africa:

Officials say the upgrade in ranking may boost foreign travel, trade connections, and global exposure for Sri Lankans.
