Bangladesh, Dhaka, Feb 1, 7.30PM – Sri Lanka’s dynamic duo, Uchitha Ranasinghe and Chalitha Pushpika, stormed into the third spot by end of second round at the Orion 37th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship held at the prestigious Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka, Bangladesh yesterday.
After two intense days of competition, the Sri Lankan team emerged with a total score of 300, securing a commendable third place. The top spot was claimed by Bangladesh B team with an impressive total of 287, while Bangladesh A secured second place with a total score of 296, just four strokes ahead of the resilient Sri Lankan contingent.
Yesterday’s standout performance came from Uchitha Ranasinghe, who delivered a stunning 72 gross score, concluding day two with a total of 149 strokes, building on his solid day one performance of 77 strokes. Meanwhile, Chalitha Pushpika, representing Sri Lanka’s Navy, displayed consistent excellence with scores of 75 and 76 on both days, finishing the competition with a total of 151 strokes.
With the Lankan duo displaying remarkable form, they are well-poised to challenge for the top position and clinch victory as the tournament remain two more rounds. The excitement continues as two more days of gripping golf action remain, with the championship set to conclude on February 3.
