COLOMBO, March 5 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s motor racing super star Yevan David will begin his 2026 FIA Formula 3 Championship campaign when the opening round takes place at the famous Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Australia from March 6 to 8, marking an important moment for Sri Lankan motorsport as the young driver lines up against the world’s best junior racers.
The highly competitive championship will see 30 of the most talented young drivers in international motorsport battling for early points as the new season roars into action on the fast and challenging Albert Park street circuit, which hosts the curtain-raiser of the Formula 3 calendar.
Yevan will represent AIX Racing and will compete under car number 27, aiming to make a strong impression in the opening round of the championship. The Sri Lankan driver enters the season with high expectations as he continues his journey in one of the most important feeder series on the road to Formula One.
The race weekend will begin with the practice session on Friday at 3.20 a.m. Sri Lanka time, giving drivers their first opportunity to familiarise themselves with the circuit conditions. This will be followed by the qualifying session at 8.30 a.m., where drivers battle for the best starting positions on the grid.
Action continues on Saturday with the Sprint Race at 5.45 a.m., a shorter and highly competitive contest where drivers fight aggressively for valuable championship points.
The weekend will conclude with the Feature Race on Sunday at 3.20 a.m., the main race of the round where drivers aim to secure maximum points and gain an early advantage in the championship standings.
With the 2026 season finally getting underway in Melbourne, Sri Lankan fans will be closely watching Yevan David’s progress as he carries the nation’s hopes into one of the world’s most competitive junior racing championships.
