SriLankan

COLOMBO, October 2 (ePRESS) – SriLankan Airlines celebrated World Children’s Day on October 1 by giving 250 children from across the island a once-in-a-lifetime flying experience through a special programme organised with Derana TV and Unilever Signal.

The event, named “Derana – Signal Ahasin Gamanak”, brought together youngsters aged 12 to 15, selected through a creative competition representing all provinces of Sri Lanka.

First flight experience for many

The children boarded a SriLankan Airlines Airbus A330-300 for a nearly two-hour scenic flight, offering breathtaking views of the country. For many, it was their first-ever flight.

Before take-off, they were warmly welcomed at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and given a guided tour by SriLankan’s Ground Handling team along with Airport and Aviation Services (AASL).

From the skies, the children enjoyed spectacular aerial views of Colombo, Galle, Adam’s Peak, Pidurutalagala, Sigiriya, Mullaitivu, Delft Island, Anuradhapura and Negombo before returning to BIA.

Partners highlight inspiration

Deepal Perera, Manager of Corporate Communications at SriLankan Airlines, said:

“At SriLankan Airlines, we believe the sky should never be the limit to a child’s dreams. It was a privilege to partner with Derana and Signal to make this extraordinary initiative a reality.”

Laksiri Wickramage, Deputy Chairman and CEO of Derana, added:

“I am deeply grateful to our partners for making this flight possible. Congratulations to all the children who got to be part of such a unique experience.”

Treshan De Zoysa, Brand Manager of Signal, noted:

A celebration of dreams

The initiative highlighted how corporate partnerships can create memorable experiences for children, inspiring them to dream big and look to the skies with confidence.
