COLOMBO, October 2 (ePRESS) – Vallibel Finance PLC (VFIN), a licensed finance company in Sri Lanka, has been upgraded by Lanka Rating Agency from BBB- to A-, highlighting its strong market presence, healthy asset quality and improved profitability.
The upgrade comes as Vallibel Finance crossed a historic milestone of Rs. 100 billion in assets in the financial year 2024/25, further cementing its reputation as one of the country’s most trusted financial services brands.
The company accounts for about 5.3 percent of the total Licensed Finance Company (LFC) sector assets. Its core business is vehicle loans, auto drafts, gold loans and leases, which together make up more than 94 percent of its lending portfolio.
Lanka Rating Agency said the higher rating reflects Vallibel Finance’s ability to maintain its non-performing loan (NPL) ratio at industry benchmarks even during rapid growth, while keeping strong coverage for impaired loans.
Financial results show solid growth. Net interest income rose by 15.9 percent to Rs. 8.1 billion in FY25, while net income grew by 22.8 percent to Rs. 2.6 billion, driven mainly by higher lease income. In the first three months of FY26 alone, net income reached Rs. 785 million.
Core spreads improved to 7.8 percent from 6.0 percent in FY24 due to lower interest rates and repricing of liabilities. Revenue was largely core at 78 percent, with the rest from fair value gains, provision write-backs and early-termination income.
The company’s loan and lease portfolio expanded from Rs. 92.1 billion in FY25 to Rs. 104.2 billion in the first quarter of FY26.
