SILVERSTONE, United Kingdom, August 4, 2025 (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s motor raing super star Yevan David continues to make an impact in the motorsport as he competed in Round 5 of the GB3 Championship 2025 at the legendary Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom over the weekend.

The 18-year-old driver, who is quickly becoming a motorsport sensation, represented Xcel Motorsport in car #44 and faced stiff competition against 24 other drivers.

Yevan, who was filling in for Indian driver Dion Gowda, had an eventful weekend of learning and progress. He finished P17 in Race 1, P10 in Race 2, and P19 in Race 3, showcasing both resilience and growth throughout the event. Race 2 was particularly notable, as Yevan managed to fight his way into the top 10 from a starting position of P17.

“It was a huge learning curve for me,” said Yevan after the race. “I had the chance to experience the difference between the Euroformula car and the GB3 car. The Euroformula car is turbocharged, while the GB3 is naturally aspirated, and I also got to try the DRS system for the first time. It was challenging to adjust, especially with the throttle response, but I managed to hold my ground in the battles.”

The weekend at Silverstone marked an important milestone for the young driver, who showed remarkable adaptability and determination. “I made progress every day, getting used to the car and the track. It was a great experience overall,” he said.

Despite an unfortunate Race 3, Yevan’s performance was widely praised, with many highlighting his ability to overcome the challenges of switching between different car types and adjusting to the race conditions. His performance in Race 2, finishing in the top 10, has sparked optimism for the remainder of the season.

As Yevan heads back home to Sri Lanka for a brief break, he remains focused on his goal. “I’m going to continue working hard and pushing for the second half of the season,” he added, with his eyes firmly set on the championship prize.
