COLOMBO, Feb (ePRESS) – Twelve-year-old Revaan Amarasinghe of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, produced a mature and confident performance to emerge as one of the brightest stars of the YETI SSC Open Tennis Championship 2026, held at the SSC tennis courts in Maitland Place, Colombo.

Amarasinghe stamped his authority in the Under-14 age group by winning both the Singles and Doubles titles, showing class, control and consistency well beyond his age. Ranked No. 2 in Sri Lanka in the Under-14 category, the young Thomian confirmed his growing status as a future prospect of Sri Lankan tennis.

In the Under-14 Boys’ Singles final, Amarasinghe delivered a strong and disciplined display to defeat Chirath Subasinghe of St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya, in straight sets, 6/4, 6/1. He controlled the baseline rallies, served with confidence and stayed calm at key moments to close out the match convincingly.

Amarasinghe went on to complete a memorable double by clinching the Under-14 Doubles title as well. Partnering Avin Dias of St. Joseph’s College, Colombo, the pair worked well as a unit to beat the combination of Zacharia Akbar and Yonal Dankumbura in the final. Their teamwork, sharp net play and smart shot selection proved decisive.

Adding further value to his tournament, Amarasinghe also competed in the higher Under-16 age category for the first time. Despite facing older and stronger opponents, he impressed by reaching the quarter-finals, a clear sign of his rapid development and competitive mindset.

Interestingly, Amarasinghe is also a keen golfer, a sport that has helped him build balance, focus and mental strength—qualities that were clearly visible during his matches at the SSC courts.
