COLOMBO, May 25 (ePRESS) – Asian International School student Methun Wijendra has brought honour to both his school and the country after being selected to represent the Sri Lanka national team at the FIBA Under-18 Asia Cup SABA Qualifiers 2026, which will be held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo from July 25 to 29.

The talented young cager earned the prestigious national call-up following his outstanding performances and dedication on the court, further underlining the growing reputation of Asian International School in producing top young sporting talent.

Methun’s selection is considered a proud milestone for the school’s basketball programme as he prepares to compete against some of the strongest emerging players in the South Asian region at the international tournament.

Representing Sri Lanka at the continental qualifying tournament is expected to provide Methun with valuable international exposure while also inspiring many young basketball players at school level.
