COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Damsath Peiris and Yudeeraya Atapaththu have secured their places in the finals of the boys’ division, while the girls’ final will feature Annaya Norbet taking on Eliza Kahagalla at the ATF Under 14 Boys and Girls Championships held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts yesterday.
In the girls’ semi-final, Annaya Norbet excelled with a convincing victory over Sahansa Damsiluni, winning decisively with scores of 6-1, 6-0. Eliza Kahagalla also advanced to the final after a hard-fought match against Buvindee Jithara, overcoming her opponent with a close score of 7-6, 6-1.
In the boys’ semi-finals, Damsath Peiris continued his impressive form by overpowering Revan Amarasinghe, winning 6-0, 6-3. Yudeeraya Atapaththu followed suit with a strong performance against Pravesh Sivapalan, securing his place in the final with a score of 6-3, 6-1. This sets the stage for a thrilling final showdown between Damsath Peiris and Yudeeraya Atapaththu.
Earlier in the tournament, in the boys’ quarter-finals, Damsath Peiris had already made a statement by dominating his match against Buvindu Jayawardane, winning decisively with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Revan Amarasinghe also advanced by defeating Dehara Wickramasinghe with a score of 6-2, 6-3.
