Colombo, Jan 21, 1PM – In a stellar display of spin bowling mastery, right-arm off-spinner Aritha Fernando orchestrated a cricketing spectacle, claiming 10 wickets and propelling the British School in Colombo to a resounding innings victory over Science College, Mount Lavinia ‘B’ Team. The clash unfolded in the Inter-Schools Under-13 Division Three Cricket Tournament first-round battle at President’s College Grounds in Kotte.

Fernando’s exceptional performance featured a sensational six-wicket haul, conceding just 11 runs in the first innings, followed by another four-wicket feat in the second innings. His relentless efforts left Science College struggling, being bowled out for meager scores of 31 and 92 in their two innings.

Before the spin bowling spectacle, the British School set the stage with a formidable total of 124 runs in their first innings. The standout performer was wicket-keeper opening batsman Tej Krishan, whose fighting half-century, embellished with one six and seven boundaries, played a pivotal role. Adding to the batting showcase, Dev Bafna, batting at number nine, contributed to a late surge with a brisk 27-ball 21, featuring five boundaries.

Aritha Fernando’s spin brilliance not only secured a dominant victory for the British School but also showcased his talent as a force to be reckoned with in the Inter-Schools Under-13 Division Three Cricket Tournament.
